When I found out I was having a girl, one of my first thoughts was that I’d get to decorate a little girl nursery. I was so excited. I love, love vintage, romantic looks for little girls and totally drool over all those baby girls wearing ruffles and pearls on Pinterest. But I had one little challenge.
Not only was my daughter going to be sharing a room with my son, but the room was painted a bright yellow. (We were renting and couldn’t change it.) For a boy, this wasn’t such a big deal…after all, it’s one of the primary colors, and sort of blended in with the blues and reds nicely. But for her, I wanted something a bit more subtle. I ended up going with light pinks and grays, to offset the yellow. Given the color of the room, and the cute pieces I found on Etsy, it worked.
And then, we moved into this house, and her room had been painted a light pink. I was really happy with this color, because it worked perfectly with my light gray and light pink scheme. I just had to throw in a few splashes of yellow so it wasn’t too much pink. I went to a consignment shop and picked up this adorable planter, which is now a table for her books. I’m in love with it. Upcycled furniture; my new favorite thing.
And, because she now had lots more wall space, I had to choose some artwork. I like to put things on the wall that mean something. Things like artwork done by friends, photos, and items that are meaningful to the room they decorate.
So I ordered this growth chart from Petite Lemon. I’m so thrilled with it because it’s truly one of those pieces that will grow with my daughter. They have lots of fun colors and themes to go with almost any room , but I chose to go classic. Just numbers with some fun patterns incorporated into the design. And of course, they can personalize the growth chart for you in beautiful print or cursive.
One of their color schemes for this design was the exact pink and gray of her room, which was awesome, because it fit perfectly! The material is thick and durable, and I’m sure it will last for the years it’s meant for.
My daughter loves it…as you can see.
And my son is already asking for one! I think I’m going to have to start looking!
